1The cloud isn't always cheaper.
Renting makes sense for workloads that grow, shrink, or need to be reachable from anywhere. For steady workloads like file storage, line-of-business databases, and backups, monthly fees, per-seat licensing, and data-transfer charges can pass the cost of owning the hardware within a few years.
The question isn't cloud or on-premises. It's which systems belong where.
2On-premises isn't always safer.
A server in a closet with missed patches and untested backups is a bigger risk than a well-run cloud service. Keeping systems in-house only pays off when someone runs them well.
3The answer is system by system.
Email and collaboration usually belong in the cloud. Large file archives, latency-sensitive applications, regulated data, and AI on confidential documents often belong on hardware you own. Most organizations end up with a mix, and the mix should change as their needs do.
4What we do about it.
We inventory what you run, price each system both ways, and recommend where it should live. Then we move it, in either direction, with a tested cutover and a way back. Afterward we manage it, or hand it to your team with the documentation to run it. When you need ongoing leadership, we stay on as your fractional CTO or CISO.
Same company, different questions.
Leadership wants predictable costs and fewer surprises. The IT team wants depth and backup on the hard projects. We work with both.
IT leadership without the full-time hire.
You answer to customers, insurers, and your board or partners. A fractional CTO or CISO gives you executive-level technology and security guidance for far less than a full-time hire.
Check your IT health- A roadmap you can budget
- A multi-year plan for systems, spending, and hardware refreshes.
- Costs you can predict
- Cloud and hardware spending sized to your actual usage, not a vendor's list price.
- Answers for insurers and clients
- Documented architecture, policies, and evidence for cyber insurance and security questionnaires.
- One partner for all of it
- Strategy, projects, and day-to-day support from the same team.
Backup for the projects your team can't staff.
You keep things running. We bring the depth for migrations, security programs, and architecture calls, and leave you with systems your team can run.
Tell us about your project- Migrations in either direction
- To Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS, or back onto your own hardware, with a tested cutover and rollback plan.
- A real security program
- MFA, endpoint detection, email security, incident response, and the policies behind them.
- A second opinion
- Architecture, licensing, and spend reviewed before you sign a contract or place a hardware order.
- Documentation you keep
- Diagrams, runbooks, and a clean handoff, so nothing depends on us.
Strategy, migration, and the IT underneath.
Most engagements start with an assessment of what you run and what it costs. From there we plan, move, secure, and manage it, or lead it for you.

Common questions.
Short answers to the questions that usually come up first.
What does a fractional CTO or CISO do?
The same work as a full-time technology or security executive, on a part-time basis: setting the roadmap and budget, managing vendors, running the security program, and reporting to leadership, insurers, and clients. You get that experience without the cost of a full-time hire.
How do you decide whether a system belongs in the cloud or on-premises?
We compare each system both ways on cost over several years, performance for the people who use it, compliance and client requirements, and what happens when it fails. Steady, data-heavy workloads often favor hardware you own. Workloads that grow, shrink, or need to be reached from anywhere usually favor the cloud.
Can you move us off the cloud?
Yes. If a workload costs more to rent than to own, or needs to stay under your direct control, we plan the move back to your own hardware, including servers, storage, backup, and a tested cutover. This is sometimes called cloud repatriation.
Are you tied to a particular vendor?
No. We're vendor-neutral, so we recommend whatever fits the workload, whether that's Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, or hardware you own.
Can you work alongside our existing IT staff or provider?
Yes. We can support an internal IT team or an existing provider on migrations, security work, or architecture reviews, and leave documentation your team keeps.
Can you set up AI that keeps our data in-house?
Yes. We install open-weight AI models on your own hardware and connect them to your documents with existing permissions intact, so confidential files never go to a public AI service.
What happens in the free consultation?
A 45-minute conversation about what you run today, what it costs, and where it should live. Afterward you get a written summary and a recommended next step, and you keep the summary whether or not you work with us.
